Most of this semester I have been struggling in Geography. I have fought my way back to “A” territory, hopefully I can pull it off, but we had an assignment where we had to pick a Geography subject and make a poster along with a paper. I picked my “POWER ANIMAL” PENGUINS and took the opportunity to showcase some of my design skills and made this poster then it printed at kinkos, which costs a small fortune! But I really liked how it turned out! It was a big hit with the class, got lots of comments because the teacher set them up and had people write down what they thought of it.

This project was a probably one of my favorites. I went way overboard as usual to make sure that it met my standards. This project was inspired by this TED video from JJ Abram’s [Star Trek, Lost, Cloverfield] mystery box. We had to design a working comp of a box and 7 cards with simple icons. They all needed to look like they were from the same series. I enjoyed this project because it was similar to project that I will see in art school.

Completed this Assignment about a month ago. School life has been an avalanche so far.

This assignment was to come up with two penguin press book covers for George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, one vintage design and one contemporary design. For the vintage design, I used drab, muted colors. For the contemporary design, I used integrated the classic “Big Brother” into a Rorschach test ink blot. I took this as inspiration from the scene, where the “thought police” are torturing Winston Smith for not “seeing” whatever number of fingers held up that the Party demands he should see.
